There are many wonderful attributes which contribute to making this piece such a remarkable example of this beloved and sought after Rare Simon and Halbig character. To begin with, it is an elusive 15" tall. Perfect cabinet size, which is VERY desirable. To be sure, the crispness and depth of the modeling makes you feel as if you are looking at a much larger doll! The painting is exquisite, with pale coral colored open-closed mouth, then outlined for further depth. The bisque is pale and flawless, with lightly blushed cheeks. The sleep eyes are light turquoise blue in color, with upper and lower finely painted long lush lashes, and soft feathered brows. The molding around his eyes is absolutely fabulous and gives this doll a special divine look all his own. All at once, he is totally angelic, and yet completely realistic! Just an exquisite presence to be sure!
His wig is original blonde mohair in a "boy's" style, and his entire navy blue wool sailor's ensemble is antique including his awesome hat, high brown leather boots with original ties, grommets and brass buckles all intact, and matching red sox to his long red scarf. Even his brass pin is antique!
He is on a fabulous completely jointed composition fat toddler body in excellent condition. This is undoubtedly the most superb example of this character I have ever seen------in ANY size! Compare for yourself. He is superb.
