Measuring about 1" across and approximately 1" in height, excluding the sewing instruments, only the heavy ivory basket. In French, this is known as an "etui." It is beautiful thick carved ivory, with an ivory molded handle on either side for convenience. It cannot be overly stressed how difficult it is to find these French accessories from the 1800's, and especially in this kind of PERFECT condition!
This contains an ormolu scissors, an ivory needle holder, an awl with ormolu tip and ivory handle and a tiny ivory thimble-----ALL PERFECT and accounted for!
It looks beautiful placed on a table as I have pictured it, or on a desk, or simply in the hands or lap of a Bebe or French fashion. It is obviously gorgeous. I have had it for many years and have NEVER seen another one in such pristine and complete condition. Even the red silk ribbon has remained, and I can imagine, it was once held on the wrist of a fortunate Poupee and the red ribbon matched the color of her ensemble! But the placement of this marvelous piece would be your pleasure!
VERY RARE!!
