Extraordinarily RARE Laughing Character
Acquiring a character of this rarity would be quite an opportunity for any serious collector. Now consider as well, that the firm of Catterfelder Puppenfabrik usually crafted their very rare characters in diminutive sizes, so Clara's height is a huge consideration!! She is 17" tall, marked with the "C.P." makers mark and the mold number "212." She has pale and pristine bisque, very soft and creamy in appearance. Her mouth is painted in an open- Closed affect with molded bisque teeth to give her a distinctive wide open mouthed laughing expression, accentuated by dimples. Her painted blue eyes are dramatically expressive. She personifies the definition of the word "character", in every sense of the word! This is a doll that stands out and demands attention, not one that fades into the background. There can be no finer example of the Art Reform movement displayed in a doll!
She was produced by the German firm of Catterfelder Puppenfabrik, at the turn of the century, and is on her original excellent composition fully jointed body with the original finish. Clara is also fortunate enough to be wearing her original superb factory presentation of a palest icey blue silk and lace multi-layered frock, which is presented in a straight line pinafore effect, with wide lace accents coming vertically down at the sides of the dress, a deep v-neck accent over the blouse presented in sumptuous laces, and a lace belt with thin silk ribbon inserts. Clara dons her original shoes and underwear as well! And to finish her off, a stunning antique silk lined confection of a hat generously be-ribboned, her original long blonde mohair wig, and a long chatelaine with beautiful watch.
There is nothing less than spectacular about this character child. She is a phenomenal force of nature worthy of the most discriminating collector. This is a true piece of art with a virtually unknown mold number. Fantastic.
