This 8" Rare French Pagoda shaped parasol is in Pristine condition! It is covered in a rich deeply colored burgundy silk color, and has coordinating ribbons that are amazingly still intact. These pagoda shaped parasols are SO rare, and are given their shape by the tines being shaped in a curved manner. They open with the help of a tiny brass button on the side of the handle, which is of long and slender beautiful carved ivory with a brass tip. When the tiny button is gently pressed, it "flips" the parasol open to it's full extent. The parasol closes the same way any other parasol does.
It is very unusual to find these in good condition, partly because they are very early, circa 1860. The other reason, is that if the brass button was not carefully used, it caused the silk to be distressed. However, given the same respect this piece has obviously enjoyed so far, this piece should last as long as all your other accessories and accouterments!
This type of parasol is so rare and so fabulous it adds a look of true couture and is worthy of your best French fashions.
