French Delicate Victorian Basket
EXTREMELY Rare French wire basket in remarkable condition to be carried on the arm of some lucky Bebe OR German character. It measures a diminutive 2 1/4" in length and is in a delicate oval shape. But what is on the bottom of the basket is the most divine part. As it is a portrait of a gorgeous Victorian lady which is hand painted in beautiful colors, and then over-laid with glass to protect it from the elements. She is painted in a glorious palette of pinks, green and sumptuous golds, with details that are almost unbelievable in this tiny size. These fine points include a golden brooch, fanciest hairpiece, a beautiful gold mirror which she is gazing into, and she even wears green earrings to match her dress! She is further surrounded by various foliage and standing on a bed of leaves! The intricacy of this piece must truly be seen in person to be appreciated. It is truly a work of art obviously intended for the most treasured of Bebes, as the artistic workmanship demonstrated on this accessory is most extraordinary.
