Wonderful Petite French Poupee Papeterie
This elegant and essential French fashion accessory was made in this diminutive size to accommodate French fashions and would certainly look equally superb in a vignette with your petite Bebes as well. It is in a soft sea foam blue color with an elaborate and beautifully executed design of hand painted flowers which covers the flat lid at the top of the box and extends to the entire front. Looking as much like a painting as a desk!
This stationery box, or "Papeterie" as it is called in French, has a slant front which opens to form a writing desk which is covered in a matching colored paper. By use of separate holders to secure them, it contains an ivory letter opener, ivory handled pen, and a marvelous pencil with the original fine hair "ponytail" shaped duster for use of cleaning the paper from the sand sprinkled to dry the ink.
The top section reveals paper lined stationery compartments, containing pieces of stationery and envelopes. It hinges together with a brass closure that is incised: "L.Z." then "Paris" and a fleur de lis. It measures 4" wide by 3" in height by 1 7/8 at it's deepest point. It is absolutely lovely and in excellent condition.
