BREATHTAKING EARLIEST PORTRAIT WITH RAREST CARTOUCHE MARK

This is the smallest size, (a size one) of the Portrait Jumeau which bears the "cartouche" insignia that is so superbly rare. It is said in Theimer's "The Jumeau Book," that "This is the earliest Jumeau name on a bebe head. It is extremely rare. It is likely that the mark appeared early in 1876 and 1877...... " It further states, "A rare variation of signature has been noted. In this instance, the model, which is of the portrait style, bears the makers name, Jumeau, in large block letters enclosed within a cartouche, at the back of the head. It is an extremely rare mark."

This exquisite beauty has magnificent very pale pressed bisque of exceptional quality! Huge spiral threaded enamel EXTREMELY almond shaped blue paperweight heavily outlined eyes, with very thin and lightly painted multi stroked eyebrows, high-lighted above and below, with a smoky shadowing, and upper and lower long and lush precisely painted eyelashes. Her closed mouth is exceptionally painted and molded, in a pale neutral shade, perfectly outlined and extremely "full" and voluptuous, shaped and painted with parted lips. In fact, her mouth is very much reminiscent of the Bru Jne having a tongue tip. This is a very rare and deluxe detail, even amongst the tiny category of Jumeaus having the much coveted cartouche mark, I have never seen such an exceptionally modeled mouth.

She has her original cork pate, and original very long, thick pale blonde mohair wig with hand tying and stunning intricate braiding running along the top, which flows down the length of her back. Her clothing is an original pale aqua blue silk magnificent frock with multi layers of French hand sewn lace, be-ribboned on each sleeve and finished in lace, the dress tied all around the back with matching aqua silk ribbons in an intricate triple bow in the back. Her ensemble greatly enhanced by her phenomenal and original Jumeau silk velvet and silk ribboned bonnet in pale pink with several aqua silk ribbons encircling and intertwining around the entire bonnet, and finished with the incredible addition of a "bouquet" of matching aqua silk ribbons on the top. She retains her original under garments, matching aqua finest silk high stockings and aqua blue shoes marked with a very early Jumeau incised mark, retaining the tiny thin silk ribbons that tie.

She has pierced ears, original aqua blue Jumeau earrings, and matching sublime jewelry of aqua, gold and mother-of-pearl bar pin, with chatelaine chains with multi aqua balls encrusted in fancy gold, multi long looped chains with a stunning gold watch.

Her body is of heavy composition and wood with early large "mitt" hands and eight loose balls at all joints. This is the best example of this totally elusive model in pristine all original condition, of incomparable beauty and quality.

She is superb.
